I searched a bit and found an article titled Why A Million People Still Play Multiplayer Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Every Month. This is not counting the MTA version which is even more popular. If we count the bots, which from experience I would say is 5-10% then these numbers are still damn impressive. This is a tracker for SAMP and it shows that the average player count of the less-popular mod averages 20k+ players. The two multiplayer mods, San Andreas Multiplayer(SAMP) and Multi Theft Auto(MTA) are still insanely popular given the dinosaur GTA San Andreas is. The results are surprising to say the least. I decided to dig deeper a bit and see how it stacks up today. I used to play San Andreas Multiplayer almost a decade ago but since then I've long forgotten about it. Never mind, when I launched the client, it showed hundreds of servers, most of which were still very active and it honestly made me think what the fuck and how is this still a thing. Well it's not magic but it launched because the actual game is very small in size and it was directed to a exe in the same folder. So, I was browsing an old folder of mine which contained old game shortcuts that I used to play and I clicked on SAMP and it magically launched.
